Mazda Australia has detailed the fourth and final member of its ‘large product portfolio’, namely the narrow-body, three-row CX-80.
Priced from $54,950 plus on-road costs, the 2024 Mazda CX-80 is essentially an elongated version of the existing CX-60 and the spiritual successor to the uber-popular but retired CX-9.
The new family hauler joins Mazda Australia’s portfolio with four trim grades – Pure, Touring, GT, Azami – and three powertrain offerings: a turbocharged 3.3-litre straight six petrol (209kW/450Nm), an equivalent diesel (187kW/550Nm) and a 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol-electric plug-in hybrid (241kW/500Nm).
A 17.8kWh lithium-ion battery pack provides the PHEV with an electric cruising range of up to 65km via the 129kW electric motor.
Every CX-80 comes with Mazda’s eight-speed automatic transmission which sends power to all four corners via the brand’s rear-biased ‘i-Activ’ all-wheel drive system.
Opening the range is the Pure trim (from $54,950), the standard spec of which included 18-inch alloy wheels and comes with black cloth upholstery, a 10.25-inch infotainment screen, wireless smartphone mirroring, a 7.0-inch semi-digital instrument cluster, head-up display, a 360-degree parking camera and a full suite of safety equipment.
Unlike the other grades, the Pure is only available with the turbo-petrol engine.
Moving up to the Touring (from $61,950) adds electric adjust leather, heated front seats, electric tail gate, wireless phone charging pad and access to the diesel and PHEV powertrains, the latter of which throws in a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.
Larger 20-inch wheels are reserved for GT grades, as is a panoramic sunroof, a pair of 12.3-inch digital screens, 12-speaker Bose sound system, body-coloured wheel arches and lower cladding along with a heated steering wheel and second row.
Flagship Azamis get 20-inch machined wheels, a 360-degree parking camera with ‘see-through’ view, LED headlamps with bright signature, ventilated front seats, and a personalise system with easy entry and driving position guide.
As per the CX-70, an SP package ($5000) is available for the Azami variants which adds black alloys, blacked-out grille and side mirrors, LED headlamps, tan Nappa leather seat trim, a two-tone steering wheel, captain’s seats with ventilation in the second row (along with extra storage) and suede dashboard inserts.
