The 2025 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution XI has been imagined online ahead of its local release never.
Blending signature design cues of almost every previous iteration, the Evo XI looks every bit as menacing and imposing as it ought to and would undoubtedly have the Hyundai i30 N and Subaru WRX reaching for clean undies if it was headed for production.
More than a whiff of Evo VIII and IX can be seen in the body shell while the front blends the overall fascia design of the X with the oversized foglights of the IV-through-VI.
The ventilated bonnet is inspired by the angriest versions of every generation while the hind quarters have been taken straight from the VIII and IX, albeit made wider and more imposing.
The blades of the fixed rear wing are likewise inspired by the performance icons while the posts take a more inboard aftermarket approach.
An Evo X rear bumper rounds out the ensemble, garnished with a time attack-spec diffuser that’d no doubt be functional given the amount of hypothetical performance on offer.
According to the render’s creators, romanmiah and avantedesigns_new, the reborn rally icon would continue with the traditional turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder and all-wheel drive, with an entry-level version developing between 224kW and 298kW to “keep up with modern competition”.
A high-output version would then up the ante to somewhere in the vicinity of 373kW as a nod to the monstrous Group B era of rallying.
The sad thing is Mitsubishi has no intention of reviving the Evo as we know it, seeing as the Lancer small car it was based on was killed off more than a decade ago, with the swansong Evo Xs arriving on local soil in 2015 and now fetching big bucks on the used market.
