Porsche Cars Australia has added another two variants to the upcoming second-generation 2025 Porsche Macan line-up, with the rear-drive Macan and mid-range 4S taking the total variant count to four when they arrive in the first half of next year.
Including the two variants already confirmed and due to be released later than expected in late 2024, the 2025 Porsche Macan range will comprise the entry-level Macan, the Macan 4, the Macan 4S and the Macan Turbo.
Pricing for the new base Macan has been set at $128,400 plus on-road costs, which is still a lot higher than the outgoing model’s circa-$95,000 starting price, while the Macan 4S will cost $149,300 plus ORCs.
Starting with the base model, the eponymous Macan scores the same 100kWh battery pack as the rest of the range but it only powers a single electric drive motor – mounted to the rear axle as per the equivalent Taycan – outputting up to 265kW/563Nm.
Porsche says that’s enough to launch the cheapest version of the all-new mid-size premium SUV from 0-100km/h in 5.7 seconds with the help of launch control.
The combination of a big battery, less mechanical drag and a 110kg weight-saving yields an ADR-certified range of up to 654km – the longest of any new Macan variant thus far.
Standard equipment highlights for the Macan include adaptive dampers, comfort access, adaptive cruise control, a 360-degree camera, digital radio, auto-dimming mirrors, power steering plus, privacy glass and 14-way power-adjustable comfort seats with memory package.
The penultimate Macan 4S features all these goodies as well as Matrix LED headlights, a Bose surround sound system, panoramic roof and four-zone climate control, plus a shedload of extra performance.
Power and torque peak at 380kW/820Nm when launch control is activated – enough for the 4S to hit 100km/h in 4.1sec (claimed).
Despite all the extra firepower and weight associated with a dual-motor system, the 4S boasts an ADR range of up to 619km and its battery pack can be fast-charged at up to 270kW when using DC power – just like the base model.
Porsche says a 10-80 per cent charge takes just 21 minutes under ideal conditions.
In announcing the two new additions, which will be followed by sharper GTS and range-topping GT versions, Porsche has also quietly revealed price increases for the previously detailed Macan 4 and Turbo variants (see below).
This is in part due to the updated Porsche Driver Experience welcome animations and the new ‘Themes’ app, which can be used to adjust the background colour of the displays and the ambient lighting to match the exterior colour.
Other range-wide upgrades include the addition of the new ‘Slate Grey Neo’ exterior colour, a new optional 20-inch wheel design and a new ‘off-road design’ package that adds a higher-clearance front bumper and 10mm of extra ground clearance to help negotiate rough terrain.
