Original 20/02/2025: Skoda Australia has detailed its new-generation Kodiaq large SUV ahead of its March entry into showrooms.
Pricing for the new model is yet to announced, however the line-up will initially comprise trim levels – Select, Sportline, Launch Edition – before the saucier RS version arrives mid-year.
The large three-row is among the Czech brand’s best-sellers in Australia – beaten only by its smaller Kamiq stablemate – and will exclusively come with a ‘140TSI’ turbo-petrol engine good for 140kW/320Nm; don’t expect to see the plug-in hybrid or turbo-diesel powertrains available in Europe.
As before, the core engine is paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission which drives either the front or all four wheels depending on the variant.
The RS meantime will feature an angrier 195kW/400Nm turbo-petrol set-up sporting all-wheel drive as standard.
Despite being a new-generation product, the 2025 Skoda Kodiaq rides on the same 2781mm wheelbase as its predecessor but dons a bigger body said to offer more cabin and cargo space, the latter rated at up to 2037 litres when the second and third rows are folded.
Boot space has grown to 289 litres behind the third row and 794 litres when the sixth and seventh seats are stowed.
On the tech front, all Kodiaqs score an enhanced traffic sign recognition system and turn assist (the SUV’s autonomous emergency braking system will now detect oncoming turning vehicles).
New ‘smart dials’ also feature within the cabin, providing multi-function dials that can be pushed and turned to operate the climate control and audio volume, seat heating, ventilation, and more.
Entry-level Select variants ride on 19-inch alloy wheels and come with tri-zone climate control, keyless entry and start, heated front seats, a pair of 15W wireless phone charging pads, a 13-inch infotainment unit with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 10-inch virtual cockpit, nine-speaker sound system, digital radio and LED ambient lighting.
Standard driver aids include autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control with stop and go function, rear exit warning, rear cross traffic alert, lane assist, and traffic jam assist – if all these fail, you’re protected by nine airbags.
The mid-spec Sportline grade adds larger 20-inch alloys, Matrix LED headlights with cornering function, dynamic rear indicators, a heated steering wheel, driver profile selection, suede and leatherette-appointed sports seats, and a host of gloss black exterior trim bits.
A $4000 Ultimate Package available for the Sportline adds dynamic chassis control (adaptive dampers), progressive steering, a surround-view camera, intelligent park assist, a head-up display, hands-free tailgate, premium Canton sound system and heated rear outboard seats.
Skoda says a Kodiaq Launch Edition, based on the Select, will also be offered for a period of time but won’t be limited in numbers with no concrete expiration date.
The Launch Edition adds the same features offered in the Ultimate Package (worth $4000) to the Select’s kit list, along with massaging front seats that feature 10 inflatable air cushions and offer eight massage programs.
A panoramic glass sunroof is also fitted standard, while buyers can choose between a Cognac (brown) or black interior.
Exterior colour options differ for each grade. The Kodiaq Select can be had in solid Steel Grey, or metallic and pearlescent options at no extra cost: Bronx Gold, Moon White, Graphite Grey, Black Magic, Race Blue, or Brilliant Silver.
Sportline grades can be had in all the above hues, except Bronx Gold, however, Velvet Red is offered as a premium metallic choice and costs an extra $1300.
Every Kodiaq is covered by Skoda’s seven-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty, with pre-paid service packages on offer for five ($2450) or seven years ($2750).
