2025 Skoda Kodiaq RS and Coupe rendered

Performance version of Czech brand’s next large SUV looks the part as a Kodiaq ‘coupe’ unofficially debuts for good measure

The new-generation 2024 Skoda Kodiaq was only shown to the world five weeks ago and yet fans are already eagerly looking forward to the reveal of the RS performance version, which we’re yet to see anything official about from the Czech brand.

This understandable impatience has led to the unofficial rendering of just such a car, with social media graphic designer X-Tomi mocking up what he thinks the 2025 Skoda Kodiaq will look like, based on the standard variants and the enhanced cosmetics of the current RS.

Kicking off the upgrades are a series of darkened and unique trim elements including a matte-black grille, smoked lights, additional air curtain garnish, body-coloured wheel-arches, vRS grille badge and a two-tone black roof to match the existing black mirrors.

The ride height has also been subtly lowered for a more purposeful stance, while the blurred wheels have been swapped out for some bigger and more aggressive hoops.

A similar treatment has been applied at the rear, along with the obligatory black badging.

We can’t see what’s going on within the cabin, but Skoda’s usual RS treatment is comprehensive and headlined by a black and red colourway, sports bucket seats, D-shaped steering wheel and a heap of sporty accents to match the RS-specific display graphics.

With the standard Kodiaq thus far only being detailed with 115kW and 150kW turbo-petrol, 142kW turbo-diesel and 150kW plug-in hybrid powertrains, there are two main options when it comes to the performance-oriented heart of the RS flagship.

The first is a carryover or mildly updated version of the current 180kW/380Nm Octavia RS powertrain and the other is a nippier adaptation of the new Tiguan’s flagship 195kW 2.0-litre turbo-petrol mill.

Both are perfectly feasible but we’re quietly hoping it’s the latter so the hot Kodiaq can keep up with its smaller VW Group cousins and deliver a meaningful power and or performance improvement compared to the already impressive current model.

But not content with dreaming up just one Kodiaq variant, X-Tomi has also created his vision of a new-generation Kodiaq Coupe, albeit not in RS trim.

An unlikely but attractive and cut-price alternative to the BMW X4 and Audi Q5 Sportback, the Kodiaq Coupe looks every part the classy Euro and would undoubtedly attract sales if it was put into production, positioning itself in a unique market niche currently occupied only by the Haval H6 GT.
