2025 Suzuki Swift Sport and more rugged Jimny teased

Japanese car-maker teases return of its affordable hot hatch and accessorised hero Jimny

Suzuki has finally teased a new 2025 Suzuki Swift Sport.

Despite recently announcing that both hot hatches and sports cars were no longer a priority for the Japanese small-car brand, the fast Suzuki Swift Champions Concept unveiled at India’s Bharat Mobility Expo looks tailor made for performance car enthusiasts.

Featuring a large spoiler, new front splitter, side skirts and wheelarch extensions that house larger wheels, the new concept looks showroom-ready.

Sadly, there’s no word what’s happened under the bonnet, but it’s thought it should be powered by an upgraded version of the last Swift Sport’s turbocharged 1.4-litre four-cylinder petrol, with power and torque set to exceed 103kW/230Nm.

If so, expect a 0-100km/h of around seven seconds.

The previous-generation was heralded as the last truly affordable hot hatch, with pricing for the remaining batch of Swift Sports pegged at just $28,990 plus on-road costs.

The new-generation Swift, meanwhile, is offered with only one mild-hybrid engine in Australia that musters 61kW/112Nm.

Sadly Maruti Suzuki, the Indian arm of Suzuki who created the concept, said the hotter fourth-gen model was only created for “demonstration purposes” and to “gather customer feedback”.

Sharing the stand with the Swift Sport teaser was the new Jimny Conqueror Concept that features matte sand-coloured paint that fades to black and some large prominent Jimny 4x4 decals.

Looking like it was made for life in the bush, the new tougher more rugged Jimny comes with off-road wheels, all-terrain tyres, a winch, snorkel, rear ladder, rack-mounted shovel, roof rails, snow tracks and an extra fuel tank mounted on its side panniers.

It’s thought all its options could be soon offered as official dealer-fit accessories.

Elsewhere on the show stand was a more rugged Grand Vitara Adventure, plus upgraded versions of the Fronx and Brezza small SUVs, a modified Invicto people mover and the all-electric Suzuki e-Vitara – the brand’s first EV.
