The 2025 VW Tiguan will arrive Down Under in May with five variants set to be offered from launch, however local pricing won’t be announced until closer to the release date.
Opening the range will be the 110TSI Life, the spec sheet of which is headlined by 19-inch alloy wheels, keyless access, a powered tailgate, 360-degree camera, Digital Cockpit Pro, a 12.9-inch infotainment interface, sat-nav, wireless App-Connect, wireless smartphone charging and Travel Assist.
Under the bonnet will be a 110kW/250Nm 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine driving the front wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
The 110TSI Elegance will feature the same powertrain and build on the Life’s standard equipment with rear privacy glass, leather upholstery, heated, cooled and power-adjustable comfort sport seats with massage function, LED Plus headlights, LED tail-lights and chrome exterior trim.
A panoramic sunroof and a Sound and Vision Package (head-up display, Harman/Kardon sound system) will be optionally available.
Sitting two rungs above the 110TSI Elegance is the 150TSI Elegance which not only ups the ante with a bigger engine – a 150kW/320Nm 2.0-litre turbo – and all-wheel drive, but a heap of extra kit.
Complementing the punchier powertrain are adaptive dampers, the Sound and Vision Package, Matrix LED headlights, LED Plus tail-lights, dynamic indicators and a 15-inch infotainment interface.
Sitting between the two Elegance variants is the 150TSI R-Line which builds on the 110TSI Life’s equipment list with an R-Line body kit and wheels, LED Plus headlights, premium LED tail-lights, dynamic indicators, sports seats with integrated headrest, sports cloth upholstery, adaptive dampers and progressive steering.
As with the 110TSI Elegance, a panoramic sunroof and Sound and Vision Package will be optionally available.
At the top of the new-generation portfolio will be the 195TSI R-Line which, as the name suggests, will pack 195kW/400Nm courtesy of an uprated version of the 150TSIs’ 2.0-litre turbo mill.
Pitched as a successor of the rabid Tiguan R, the 195TSI R-Line is good for 0-100km/h in 5.9 seconds thanks to the standard inclusion of all-wheel drive, and largely blends the kit lists of the 150TSIs.
Toys unique to it however include 20-inch ‘Leeds’ alloy wheels, leather upholstery, power-adjustable comfort sport front seats with heating, cooling, massage and memory functions, a heated steering wheel, the 15-inch Discover Pro Max infotainment system, a head-up display, Matrix LED headlights, dynamic light assist, premium LED tail-lights, dynamic indicators and a Harman/Kardon premium sound system.
VW’s local product and marketing boss Nathan Johnson described the new-generation Tiguan as a ‘mini Touareg’ and said the 2025 range would prove “that value and elevated appeal can coexist”.
Australian pricing and finer specification details of the 2025 VW Tiguan will be announced in the coming months.
