The 2025 Zeekr 7X has been revealed via social media and all but confirmed for the Australian market, where it will lock horns with the top-selling Tesla Model Y and a range of other existing and upcoming mid-size electric SUVs.
Teased last week, the 7X is essentially an SUV version of the Zeekr 007 electric sedan that’s yet to be confirmed for Australia, where the Chinese premium EV brand will be launched in coming months with the Zeekr X small SUV and the Zeekr 009 people-mover.
carsales has it on good authority the all-new medium electric SUV will be one of two new models to be introduced Down Under next year by Zeekr, which is expected to release at least a pair of new EVs locally per annum.
It would be reasonable to expect the 007 to be the other inbound model, which would provide Zeekr with a direct rival for the Tesla Model 3 and Toyota Camry Hybrid without stepping too heavily on the toes of sister Geely brands Volvo or Polestar.
Our sources couldn’t be precise on the local release timing of the Zeekr 7X due to the lengthy ADR compliance process and the ‘applicability’ of the EV brand’s right-hand drive manufacturing plans.
The high-riding five-seater measures 4825mm long, 1930mm wide, up to 1666mm tall and sits on a 2925mm wheelbase, making it noticeably longer and taller than a Model Y, though not as wide.
Details beyond that are thin on the ground for the time being, but carsales understands the 7X rides on the same SEA platform as the rest of the Geely Group’s dedicated EVs and will be offered with a familiar array of single- and dual-motor powertrains.
Outputs for the 007, for example, start at 150kW/350Nm and stretch right up to 475kW/710Nm.
Two batteries are earmarked for the 7X: a 76kWh lithium iron phosphate unit and a bigger 100kWh nickel manganese cobalt power pack that’s set to provide more than 600km of WLTP range.
Odds are the 7X won’t be able to match the Model Y’s sub-$56,000 starting price, but it’s sure to arrive laden with luxury and technology as per the 007.
