Alfa Romeo Australia has tweaked its local Tonale lineup with the introduction of a minor facelift which brings a revised design, fewer core variants, more equipment and some price increases. A limited-run Sport Speciale is also available, with the same true of the smaller Junior.

Officially subbed the ‘Tonale Series 3’, the updated model dons a new front fascia, bumper, widened tracks (for handling), redesigned 19-inch alloys and an updated colour palette.
Inside the cabin you’ll find a new centre console with a rotary gear selector and new trim materials, including a new red leather upholstery option.
Both the mild and plug-in hybrid powertrains have been enhanced via “refined hybrid control processors” which yield both faster response and smoother transitions between petrol and electric propulsion, but there are no official changes to power, performance or efficiency.
With the range now exclusively comprising the Veloce trim, contents from the previously optional Lusso Pack – perforated black leather, eight-way power-adjustable, heated and cooled front seats with driver memory, heated steering wheel, heated washer nozzle and a PTC heater for the PHEV – have been made standard in addition to the previous Veloce kit list.

As for the Sport Speciale, it features a gloss-black body kit, ice-grey accents and two-tone 20-inch wheels, behind which you’ll find black brake callipers.
‘Sport Speciale’ badging is obligatory, while Alcantara upholstery, a Harman Kardon?premium sound system, unique ambient lighting, a premium leather steering wheel and a sunroof are also present.
The only powertrain available in the Tonale Sport Speciale is the 128kW ‘Ibrida’ mild hybrid turbo-petrol.
A Junior Sport Speciale is also available in limited quantities, predictably swapping out the Tonale’s 1.5-litre powertrain for the smaller 1.2T.
It also rolls on 18-inch alloys instead of 20s and nabs an Alcantara dashboard.
