Plug-in hybrid power is back for the Audi Q5 range, with the addition of an e-hybrid quattro Q5 SUV and Sportback, as well as more powerful Sport quattro grades to sit below the hotter SQ5 range.
Audi Australia has detailed its “most complete and compelling” Q5 range yet, with four new additions set to arrive early next year, including a plug-in hybrid with SQ5-matching power outputs, along with a more powerful 200kW turbo-petrol option.
Both powertrains cost the same: $96,900 plus on-road costs (ORCs) for the SUV and $100,400 (plus ORCs) for the sleeker Sportback.
The e-hybrid quattro marks the return of a plug-in hybrid option for the mid-size SUV, comprising a turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol engine and electric motor, to deliver 270kW to match the high-performance SQ5 and 500Nm (50Nm shy on torque compared to SQ5).

It brings a claimed 0-100km/h sprint time of just 5.1 seconds, in line with the previously offered Q5 55 TFSI e plug-in hybrid. However, the new e-hybrid gets the latest-generation battery technology which charges quicker and offers more capacity and electric driving range.
An electric-only driving range of 82km (WLTP) is quoted for both the SUV and Sportback, while a maximum 11kW (up from 7.2kWh) three-phase AC charging rate is said to fully charge its 25.9kWh lithium-ion battery in as little as 2.5 hours.
Standard features include 20-inch Audi Sport alloy wheels atop red brake calipers, a black exterior styling pack, Audi connect plus services, and its latest MMI panoramic display with Android-based operating system.
Meanwhile, new TFSI quattro sport variants introduce a 200kW turbo-petrol powertrain, topping the 150kW TFSI and TDI options.

Available in SUV and Sportback body styles at the same price as e-hybrids, the new quattro sport grades deliver 200kW and 400Nm from a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder, mated to a seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch sending power to all four corners.
Standard kit includes Audi’s S line exterior pack, 20-inch alloys, panoramic sunroof, Matrix LED headlights with selectable signatures, electric tailgate and a rear projection light for added visibility.
Inside, leather-appointed upholstery features alongside aluminium interior inlays, ambient interior lighting, a 14.5-inch OLED touchscreen, an 11.9-inch virtual cockpit for the driver, and Audi connect plus vehicle connectivity.
Audi Australia says customers can place orders from today, with both SUV and Sportback versions of the new Q5 e-hybrid quattro and 200kW TFSI quattro sport expected to land in local showrooms in the first half of 2026.
