The Finer Details

Opening the MY26 range is the new Formentor S which starts from $49,990 before on-road costs – or $53,990 drive-away from launch – and is powered by a 110kW mild-hybrid system.

Meanwhile, the Formentor V, which previously opened the range, has had a 10kW power bump to 150kW, along with a price hike from $51,990 (+ORCs) to $57,490, or $61,990 drive-away.

The performance-flavoured VZx has also gone up in price; now starting from $69,990 plus on-roads (or $74,990 d/a), but it’s gained an additional 17kW for a total 245kW. It’s also said to bring sharper dynamics thanks to a new torque vectoring rear differential.

But the biggest leap comes with the plug-in hybrid Formentor VZe, which gets Cupra’s second-generation PHEV system, bringing a significant uptick in performance and price – now from $68,990 plus on-roads or $74,490 drive-away.

The updated system produces 200kW, nearly doubles battery capacity and introduces DC fast charging. Electric driving range has also increased from around 50km to more than 100km.

Visually, the Formentor adopts a sharper ‘shark-nose’ front end, triangular daytime running lights and a redesigned rear end featuring an illuminated Cupra logo.

Fresh alloy wheel designs and more exterior colour options are also available, including matte finishes.

Inside, a larger 12.9-inch infotainment screen features with an enhanced interface while backlit climate and volume controls have been added, along with Dinamica upholstery on S and V grades, with memory for the driver.

A premium Sennheiser audio system can be optioned.

Cupra has also made the Extreme Package available as an option for both VZx and VZe grades, priced at $7000 and $6500 respectively.

It adds Sabelt CUP bucket seats with carbon-fibre backs, upgraded performance brakes (Akebono for VZx, Brembo for VZe), matrix LED headlights and dark interior finishes rather than copper.

The refreshed Cupra Formentor range is available to order now, with the first examples to begin arriving this month ahead of customer deliveries scheduled starting in late May.

Meanwhile, the limited-run VZ5 halo is available for pre-order.
