2026 Fiat 500 Hybrid detailed overseas

The 2026 Fiat 500 Hybrid has been detailed in Europe as a reworked version of its electric 500e cousin, intended to replace the aging petrol model. However, the new mild-hybrid variant is yet to be confirmed for Australia.

The 2026 Fiat 500 Hybrid is due on sale in Europe mid-2026, where it’ll sell alongside the battery-electric 500e with which it shares its underpinnings.

Instead of the 87kW all-electric powertrain used in the 500e, the new mild-hybrid will be powered by an electrified 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine producing just 48kW (petrol engine).

The Italian carmaker doesn’t list a combined petrol-electric power figure. However, the 500 Hybrid’s claimed 0-100km/h acceleration time of 16.2 seconds would suggest the small electric motor doesn’t add much zest. For context, the 500e does it in a claimed 9 seconds.

The front-wheel drive (FWD) city car will feature six-speed manual transmission as standard, across the range.

Outside, the mild-hybrid 500 brings subtle changes, including a larger front grille and a HYBRID badge on the tailgate.

Inside, it has an elevated gear shifter and a high-mounted infotainment screen positioned above a storage cubby in the dash feature.

Although production of the 500 Hybrid will begin this month, a Stellantis spokesperson – Fiat’s Australian importer – told carsales it has “nothing to confirm” regarding the mild-hybrid Fiat 500’s local arrival.
