The 2026 Ford Ranger Super Duty has been captured in Australia for the first time in both single-cab-chassis and extra-cab-chassis body styles, ahead of its launch next year.
Posting images on the Official Next-Gen Ranger Group Australia on Facebook, it’s the first time the Ford Ranger Super Duty has been witnessed testing, with the mid-size ute wearing a light camouflage over the front portion of its body hiding wider front arches and new sheet metal changes.
Back in November 2024, a dual-cab version of the Ranger Super Duty was spotted on Michigan roads while under development in the US.
Officially, Ford has given us a glimpse of the tough ute’s heavy-duty eight-stud wheel hub that will help enable the vehicle to tow up to 4500kg.
The latest tease also shows off the Ford ute’s 18-inch steel wheel that, for off-road versions, will be wrapped in a sizeable 33-inch all-terrain tyre.
The new pics hint that a snorkel might also be standard. Not seen is the extra underbody armour, a new SUPER DUTY front grille, and larger side mirrors, plus revised LED headlamps.
Rumours suggest that not only will the Ranger Super Duty tow 4500kg but also have a 4500kg gross vehicle mass (GVM) and an enormous 8000kg gross combination mass (GCM).
Those numbers tower over the standard Ranger XL double-cab 2.0-litre 4x4 automatic, which has a maximum towing capacity of 3500kg, a GVM of 3250kg and a GCM of 6350kg.
Even the full-sized Chevrolet Silverado, RAM 1500, Toyota Tundra and Ford’s own F-150 can’t match all those figures, although most full-size trucks are artificially limited for our market.
It’s thought the Ranger Super Duty might even have a payload approaching 2000kg.
If that’s not enough, the terrain shown in the short clip suggests the Ranger Super Duty should be one of the most capable Rangers off-road yet, although it’s unlikely to get the Raptor’s coil-sprung rear end.
The latest spy image shows off how the single-cab-chassis Super Duty will get a tubed side-step added ahead of its rear wheels.
It’s not clear if the Ranger Super Duty will be available with a tub.
Other rumours suggest that, to help unlock its potential, the Ford ute will come with an upgraded 3.0-litre V6 turbo-diesel with power and torque boosted from the standard Ranger’s 184kW and 600Nm.
Set to be unwrapped later this year, the new Ford Ranger Super Duty will launch in Australia in the first half of 2026.
