2026 Honda Civic goes under the knife

Mild styling tweaks head up the changes for mid-life facelift of three-year-old hatch

The eleventh-generation 2026 Honda Civic has been updated as part of a raft of tweaks designed to keep it fresh against opposition like the Volkswagen Golf and Toyota Corolla.

Look closely and you might spot that both the upper and lower grilles have been sharpened and now get a black gloss finish, while the more sculpted front bumper has been revised to provide a stronger “more assertive look”.

Other tweaks include a colour-coded front spoiler and front foglamps that have been deleted to provide a cleaner look, while the Civic’s new LED headlights are said to provide “optimal visibility” in foggy conditions, making any separate fog lights unnecessary.

Inside, the Honda’s cabin carries over unchanged, but designers say that there’s a more premium black finish for the roof and pillars that are combined with matte chrome air vents.

Other changes include the introduction of a new two-tone 18-inch diamond cut alloy wheel that are finished in grey and a new option of Seabed Blue paint.

Under the bonnet the current Civic e:HEV’s 2.0-litre petrol-electric engine, that includes dual-motors, carries over unchanged. It still produces 135kW and 315Nm of torque, with the hybrid Honda averaging just 4.2L/100km.

In markets like the UK, all models now come with wireless phone charging as standard, while higher-grade models gain fresh ambient lighting, footwell lights and a new 10.2-inch digital driver display.

It’s not yet known when the 2026 Honda Civic will land in Australia, but the current range starts from $49,990 drive-away.
