The 2026 Hyundai IONIQ 6 N electric super sedan has arrived in Australia priced from a cool $115,000 plus on-road costs, making it exactly the same price as the existing IONIQ 5 N crossover.

Powering the IONIQ 6 N is the same 478kW/770Nm dual-motor powertrain and 84kWh battery pack as the 5 N, however its claimed 3.2-second 0-100km/h time is noticeably quicker than its sibling’s 3.5-second dash.
The extra performance is provided by an optimised battery management system and revised software which largely sets the tone for the rest of the package beyond the swoopy four-door body.
Perhaps the biggest upgrade in this context is the expansion of the ‘N e-Shift’ virtual transmission which can now be used in conjunction with launch control, the drift optimiser, N Grin Boost, all drive modes (Eco included), the adjustable torque distribution system, adaptive cruise control and speed limiter.

The system’s also been reworked with shorter and closer ‘ratios’ to provide more shifting opportunities, especially in N mode, both on track and the public road.
Other upgrades over the IONIQ 5 N include an enhanced N Drift Optimiser, expanded N Track Manager, faster and more efficient battery conditioning and thermal management, stroke-sensitive adaptive dampers, optimised suspension geometry, torque steer compensation, fluid-filled Hydro-G suspension bushes and retuned ESC in Sport mode.
Its swoopier shape and lower profile gift the IONIQ 6 N a drag coefficient of 0.274; the primary contributor to its 487km WLTP cruising range (vs 448km for the 5 N).

Interestingly, the 6 N’s suspension wasn’t tuned locally like the 5’s was – Hyundai Australia deemed the global tune more than good enough for our local conditions, especially so since it’s based off the 5 N’s.
Standard equipment on the cut-price Taycan-killer includes heated and cooled leather and suede seats, a black headliner, N-specific steering wheel and graphics, dual-zone climate control, wireless smartphone projection, sat-nav, dual 12.3-inch screens, a head-up display, eight-speaker Bose sound system, heated rear outboard seats, LED lighting, 20-inch alloy wheels, connected services and vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality.
A powered sunroof is also included as standard, however a ‘sunroof delete’ is available as a no-cost option – premium ($750) and matte ($1000) paint finishes are the only other optional extras.
Being one of the brand’s flagship models, just about every one of Hyundai’s latest driver assists and active safety features is present on the IONIQ 6 N, backed by six airbags if skid comes to crunch.

The 2026 Hyundai IONIQ 6 N is available to order now at all Hyundai dealers nationally, however local inventory will be hard to come by since each car will be imported order-by-order – unlike mainstream models like the Kona which there’s an abundance of.
Warranty coverage is for seven years/unlimited kilometres – including non-competitive track days – while the battery is covered for eight years/160,000km.
