Mercedes-AMG has released its first tease of the inbound Concept AMG GT Track Sport that has been built to humble the likes of the Porsche 911 GT3 RS on road and track.
Following in the tyre tracks of the hard-core first-gen Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series, which blended 537kW of power with up to 400kg of downforce, the new Concept AMG GT Track Sport is once again set to be powered by an uprated version of the AMG GT coupe’s twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8.
Currently, the most-powerful Mercedes-AMG GT 63 Pro pumps out 450kW and 850Nm, if you ignore the plug-in hybrid GT 63 S E-Performance that musters a colossal 620kW and 1400Nm for a hypercar-baiting 0-100km/h dash of just 2.9 seconds.
Mercedes-AMG has yet to reveal any details on its latest member of the AMG GT line-up, but it's thought that the Concept AMG GT Track Sport will shun the heavy plug-in powertrain for the lighter regular twin-turbo V8.
As well as producing lots more power than standard, the images show how the new wild concept will feature motorsport-derived air bending that includes a GT3 racer's rear wing, an aggressive front splitter and a much-wider front and rear track, hinting at wider, stickier tyres.
It's thought Mercedes-AMG will unwrap the new concept at this September's Munich motor show on September 8.
