The 2026 Renault Symbioz has been confirmed for Australia, with the French marque’s new hybrid small SUV range set to arrive Down Under from $37K when it lands in showrooms this July.

The Symbioz arrives as part of the brand’s local expansion plans targeting one of Australia’s most competitive SUV segments, offering a choice of both mild-hybrid and full-hybrid powertrains.
Kicking off the range is the Techno mild-hybrid, which features a turbocharged 1.3-litre four-cylinder petrol engine producing 104kW/245Nm and a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
It claims a combined fuel consumption of 6.4L/100km and a 0-100km/h time of 9.4 seconds – the ‘full-hybrid’ models complete the sprint in 9.1 seconds.

The latter is the default powertrain for the flagship Esprit Alpine (from $45,990) and available in the Techno (from $42,990).
It uses Renault’s E-Tech hybrid system; combining a 1.8-litre four-cylinder petrol engine (80kW/170Nm) with a 36kW/205Nm e-motor and a 1.4kWh lithium-ion battery.
Combined outputs are rated at 116kW/265Nm, with a lower claimed fuel consumption of 4.7L/100km.

Renault says the combination of the hybrid system and 48-litre fuel tank delivers a maximum driving range of up to 1000 kilometres under WLTP testing.
Measuring up at 4412mm long, 1797mm wide and 1567mm tall, the Symbioz sits at the larger end of the small SUV category and practicality is said to be a key focus, with a sliding rear bench allowing occupants to prioritise either rear legroom or luggage space.
The mild-hybrid variant offers up to 563 litres of boot space with the seats in place, expanding to 695L when slid forward and 1668L with them folded.

Hybrid variants meantime provide 460L of luggage capacity, increasing to 592L and 1546L respectively.
Standard equipment on Technos include 18-inch alloy wheels, LED lighting, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert, reverse camera, heated steering wheel, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, Google built-in services, wireless phone charging and a 10.4-inch infotainment touchscreen.
The Esprit Alpine adds larger 19-inch alloys, a 360-degree camera, park assist, electric tailgate, heated front seats with electric adjustment, a nine-speaker Harman/Kardon audio system and unique Alpine-inspired styling details.
A panoramic ‘Solarbay’ glass roof is optional across the range for $2000 and uses polymer dispersed liquid crystal technology, allowing the roof to be electronically darkened on demand.

Renault covers the Symbioz with a five-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty, while full-hybrid battery coverage extends to eight-years/160,000km.
It’ll arrive in Australian showrooms this July as the brand’s first locally offered hybrid model.
