Skoda Australia has outlined its rollout plans for the new mild-hybrid Octavia passenger car and Kodiaq large SUV, with the new partially electrified variants set to replace the existing turbo-petrol Selects.

The Finer Details
Starting with the Kodiaq – comfortably Skoda’s best-selling model this year – the new 1.5-litre mild-hybrid (MHEV) powertrain will replace the punchy 2.0-litre turbo-petrol in the entry-level Select grade next year, bringing some huge fuel savings with it.
Skoda claims the base Kodiaq’s average fuel consumption will drop from 9.0L/100km to 6.0L/100km on the combined cycle, however the trade off will be significantly less power and torque (140kW/320Nm vs 110kW/250Nm).
You also lose all-wheel drive and leather upholstery (replaced by cloth) but gain the option of a five- or seven-seat layout and an optional Signature Package which adds leather, intelligent park assist, area view, power-adjustable passenger seat, memory and massage functions for both front seats, kick sensor for the powered tailgate and a premium Canton audio system.
When all is said and done, the core 2026 Skoda Kodiaq line-up will comprise the Select mHEV five-seater, seven-seater, Select PHEV, 140TSI Sportline and 195TSI RS.
As for the Octavia, the mild-hybrid mill will replace the existing 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine; matching it for power and torque while trimming the fuel consumption down to 5.1 and 5.2L/100km for the sedan and wagon respectively – a saving of 1.0L/100km.
Keyless entry, a powered tailgate and 17-inch alloy wheels (replacing 18s) will be made standard on the Select while the 110TSI Sportline will essentially be replaced by the Signature Package: leather trim, heated, cooled, massaging and memory power-adjustable front seats, head-up display, Matrix LED headlights, and 18-inch alloys.
The Road Ahead
Pricing for the new mild-hybrids will be announced in the new year ahead of their arrival into local showrooms, but Skoda has confirmed they’ll be covered by the same seven-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty as the petrols.
