It’s taken less than a month for digital creators to set about rendering the 2026 Toyota RAV4 after a heavily camouflaged prototype was spotted testing in the US last fortnight.
While the detail-shrouding wrap its did job, it was still clear to see the next-generation RAV4 will adhere to Toyota’s latest design language and feature a much squintier front motif than its predecessor in connection with a taller body.
And that’s exactly what’s been cooked up here, albeit without the swathes of camo.
Up front us a similar lighting arrangement to the latest-generation Toyota Prius, Camry and C-HR while the grille and nose-cone seemingly take inspiration from the Lexus LBX.
The roofline looks to have been raised somewhat compared to the current model, most of the body’s hard edges and creases have been ironed out, the glasshouse and window line have been reshaped and the tailgate has been modernised with some crisper tail-lights.
Naturally, there are some new alloy wheels too.
Word is the next-gen RAV4 will ride on the same TNGA-K platform as the current model, suggesting the overall dimensions and wheelbase won’t change too much.
The interior by contrast will be completely overhauled while the four-cylinder hybrid powertrain(s) will more than likely be pinched from the 2024 Toyota Camry, bringing more power and efficiency in one fell swoop.
The current RAV4 has dominated the mainstream medium SUV market in 2024 with 53,599 examples having been registered between January 1 and November 30, placing it just 4501 units behind the Ford Ranger with a month of trading still to go.
That makes it the second-best-selling model on the entire market after the Ranger, and ahead of the Toyota HiLux in third.
It’s nearest segment rival, in terms of sales, is the Mitsubishi Outlander with 25,622 registrations as of November 30 – less than half that of the RAV4.
Odds are the next-gen RAV will continue to attract buyers in droves based on what we’ve seen from the Camry and box-fresh LandCruiser Prado.
