Volkswagen has released design sketches of the all-new 2026 Volkswagen T-Cross EV it will unwrap on September 8 at the Munich motor show. It will launch in Europe next year with an expected price around €25,000 ($40,000).
The fresh images of the new 2026 Volkswagen T-Cross EV were posted by Andreas Mindt, VW's design boss, revealing what he describes as a "near-production concept car".
Created to be sold alongside the current VW T-Cross, it's thought the unnamed new small battery-powered SUV will slot in the range beneath the current ID.4 and eventually replace the T-Cross when combustion engines are phased out.
Set to feature a significantly toned-down look compared to the design sketches, it's tipped the concept car will appear more in line with the German brand's latest combustion-powered models, including the T-Roc that will also be unwrapped at the Munich show.
Drawing inspiration from the ID.1 concept, the new model looks like it will feature full-width front and rear LED light bars and come with an illuminated rear badge and oversized rear diffuser.
Beneath the skin, the new SUV will share much in common with the inbound ID.2All hatch, which means it will be based on the same MEB Entry platform.
Most models will come with a single e-motor, although all-wheel drive will also be an option. The SUV is set to come with the firm's trick in-hub rear motors.
While the VW ID.2All hatch will prove popular in Europe it's also the small SUV that could achieve the EV sales Volkswagen desires Down Under.
The biggest obstacle to its ultimate success is whether buyers will be willing to pay a premium for it over equivalent Chinese rivals. It's expected to be built in Spain and that will add cost.
