The 2027 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport has been unveiled in the US this week, sporting the brand’s potent next-gen 6.7-litre LS6 V8, which Chev says will become the ‘primary’ engine for the US brand’s popular sports car line-up, including the popular Stingray.

The new-generation naturally aspirated 6.7-litre LS6 will become Chev’s primary engine for the Corvette range moving forward and is the largest displacement V8 to power the current-gen C8 Corvette.
Yet to be confirmed for Australia, the 398kW/705Nm-producing LS6 will power the new Corvette Grand Sport – a nameplate originally reserved for lightweight track-focused versions of the iconic sports car.
The new LS6 will replace the entry-level Corvette Stingray’s current 6.2-litre LT2 V8 overseas and is now available with a centre-exhaust, although the switchover is yet to be announced for the Corvette lineup Down Under.
Sporting a larger throttle body, higher compression ratio, forged pistons and conrods, a new lubrication system and redesigned exhaust manifolds, the new V8 sends power directly to the rear wheels via an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic.

Equipped with Magnetic Ride Control dampers as standard, buyers can option the Z52 Sport Performance package, adding stiffer suspension, beefier brakes borrowed from the Z06 and stickier Michelin Pilot Sport 4S rubber.
A Z52 Track Performance Package is also offered, brining carbon ceramic brakes, even stickier Cup 2R tyres and a host of carbon fibres exterior bits.
The electrified Corvette Grand Sport X meantime is expected to replace the E-Ray Down Under.
It introduces an electric motor and small 1.9kWh lithium-ion battery pack to the V8 engine, for a whopping 538kW (total combined).
The same dual-clutch auto is used but sends power to all four corners via an eAWD system and features ‘Stealth’ mode as per the E-Ray, allowing for low-speed, electric-only driving for short periods.

A special Corvette Grand Sport Launch Edition will be offered in the US, featuring Admiral Blue Metallic paint used on the fourth-generation Corvette and a ‘Santorini Blue’ interior with red accents.
The 2027 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport and Grand Sport X are yet to be confirmed for Australia, with a spokesperson for GM Australia telling carsales: “We have no announcements to make on future models for the ANZ region”.
