2027 Zeekr 7X gets more punch for the same price

Zeekr's bestselling electric SUV picks up more power, more range and a dashcam as standard without raising prices

The News

The Zeekr 7X has been one of the surprise hits of 2026. Now the mid-size family SUV has been updated for 2027 with more powerful motors, quicker acceleration, a few styling tweaks and more standard gear.

Prices stay the same and the order books open this week with first deliveries of the premium SUV due in December. It's a timely refresh, as the 7X is the main reason Zeekr has gone from a curiosity to a serious player in the Australian new car market.

The Key Details

  • Every variant gets extra power and torque: 25kW and 80Nm
  • Long Range RWD offers up to 627km of WLTP range
  • Prices unchanged: $57,900, $63,900 and $72,900 plus on-road costs
  • Built-in dashcam (DVR), rear privacy glass and redesigned centre console now standard
  • First 2000 orders get two years free servicing, a wallbox charger and free paint/trim choice

The Finer Details

The updated Zeekr 7X will arrive in Australia just before with subtle styling revisions and a handful of extra features.

You'll need to look closely to spot the reshaped front air ducts, narrower active grille shutter and tidier rear diffuser. The rear numberplate has also moved from the bumper to the tailgate, and there's a new two-tone Tech Grey paint with a black roof for the Long Range and Performance variants.

Inside, the centre console has been reworked with relocated cupholders and an extra storage cubby, plus a suede headliner. Boot space is still 539 litres, or 1978 litres with the rear seats folded, and the Performance AWD keeps its 66-litre front boot.

The power increase is the headline news, which will make a tangible different to the way the vehicle motivates. Every 2027 Zeekr 7X variant gets an extra 25kW and 80Nm, taking the flagship Performance AWD model to a cheek-rippling 500kW/790Nm.

The entry-level 75kWh RWD model (LFP battery) and the 100kWh Long Range RWD (NCM battery) both now make 335kW/520Nm. They hit 100km/h in 5.6sec and 5.5sec respectively, about half a second quicker than before.

The dual-motor Performance AWD is up to 500kW/790Nm and 3.7sec.

Claimed cruising range has improved slightly: 482km (+2km), 627km (+12km) and 544km (+1km) on the WLTP cycle.

Australia still gets the 800V architecture rather than China's 900V setup – it’s likely Zeekr will update to the new architecture in around 12 months.

The more advanced version recently released in China sees 103kWh variants run on 900V and charge from 10 to 80 per cent in about 10 minutes – more rapid to recharge than the current version sold here.

They also make up to 585kW, enough for a 2.98sec 0–100km/h time, and every Chinese 7X gets lidar and an Nvidia-powered driver-assist system as standard. There's no sign of that hardware coming here yet, but it shows where the 7X is heading.

All variants get a 16-inch touchscreen running Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8295 chip, a 13-inch digital instrument cluster and the new DVR, which records both while you're driving and when the car is parked – a la Tesla’s sentry mode.

The 7X Long Range variant adds a 36.21-inch augmented reality head-up display, Nappa leather, ventilated massage seats, a fridge and a 21-speaker sound system.

At the top of the family tree, the Performance AWD adds air suspension, 21-inch forged wheels and automatic doors.

Zeekr Australia managing director Frank Li said the 7X "has been central to Zeekr's growth in Australia", and the figures support him.

According to VFACTS, 1628 Zeekr 7Xs found homes in September alone. That takes its 2026 tally to 10,800, and it accounts for nearly 29 per cent of the (over-$65K) luxury medium SUV segment last month.

For context, Tesla sold 4476 Model Ys in September (35,930 year-to-date), while the BYD Sealion 7 managed 2687 (19,964 YTD).

Zeekr as a brand has reached 12,120 sales this year, up from just 730 at the same point in 2025.

Parent company Geely is gaining ground too. It has sold 23,632 cars in 2026 from just three models, the EX2, EX5 and Starray EM-i, compared with 3197 this time last year.

The Zeekr 7X's pricing puts it in a crowded field and while it’s angling to take on the BMWs and Audis of the car market, on price its targeting the Tesla Model Y which starts at $58,900, while the Sealion 7 ($54,990–$63,990), Kia EV5 ($56,770–$64,770) and XPeng G6 ($51,800–$66,800) also compete for the same buyers.

The Road Ahead

Existing Zeekr 7X customers can keep their current order or talk to their dealer about switching to the updated model. The launch offers run until 31 December which applies to the first 2000 buyers of the updated 7X.

The incentives include two years of free servicing, a wallbox and free paint and trim choice. They also get 5000 Zeekr app points, a Frank Green water bottle and the choice of an Anker powerbank or a bottle of Zeekr bubbly.

The upgraded 2027 Zeekr 7X comes with the same warranty as previous models, five years/unlimited kilometres for the vehicle and eight years/160,000km for the battery.

Next up for Zeekr is the 7GT wagon set to arrive late in 2026, which will be priced below the 7X and could deliver another sales boost for the brand. It’s a lower and sleeker sibling to the 7X built on the same underpinnings but not quite as pragmatic.

Bigger models are coming after that. The Zeekr 8X and the flagship 9X SUVs are on the way, taking Zeekr further upmarket and into large SUV territory and pushing beyond the $100,000 mark.

How much does the 2027 Zeekr 7X cost?
RWD – $57,900
Long Range RWD – $63,900
Performance AWD – $72,900

*Prices exclude on-road costs
