AIMS: Peugeot 508 unveiled at AIMS
French manufacturer announces pricing of new model, in five-door and wagon formCentrestage on the Peugeot stand at the Australian International Motor Show in Melbourne was the all new 508 model.
In the company's third consecutive year of sales growth, the 508 will add icing to the cake with three models: five-door sedan and GT, and a Touring wagon. Pricing starts at $36,990 for the six-speed auto turbo petrol version and tops out at $52,990 for the 2.2-litre HDi turbodiesel GT model.
The smooth new Peugeot comes with plenty of new technology, plus an impressive Cd (aerodynamic drag) figure of 0.25. Among the fine-tuned design elements are an aluminium bonnet and laser welding of the roof.
The new Peugeot comes with a five-star NCAP safety rating, as well as Euro 5 compliance on all powerplants.
Three engines will be available in Australia: the efficient 1.6-litre turbo petrol producing 115kW/240Nm and claiming 7.1L/100km, the 2.0-litre HDi turbodiesel with 120kW/340Nm and fuel consumption/CO2 figures of 5.7L/100km and 149g/km. The new 150kW/450Nm 2.2-litre HDi FAP turbodiesel exclusive to the GT claims a fuel consumption of 5.7L/100km and emits 150g/km of CO2.
The super-frugal e-HDi 1.6-litre powerplant with stop/start technolgy arrives later this year with a claimed combined fuel consumption of 4.4L/100km. The Euro 5 e-HDI engine produces just 115g/km of CO2.
Standard equipment in all 508 models includes six-speed auto transmission, four-zone air-conditioning, head up display, hands-free access and start, multi-function steering wheel and adaptive main beam headlights.
The 508 five-door is available in base Active form, stepping up to Allure and topping out with the 2.2-litre GT. The Touring model comes in Allure form only and offers the choice of 1.6-litre turbo petrol and 2.0-litre HDi engines.
