Key specification details for the new-generation 2024 Honda Accord have emerged ahead of the premium sedan’s Australian launch in the coming weeks.
As the first shipment arrives Down Under, Honda Australia has stopped short of announcing pricing for the all-new Accord, which will be only available as a hybrid.
The current Accord VTi-LX Hybrid in run-out is priced from $61,900 drive-away, but this should increase with the higher specification of the 11th-generation model, which will also feature a more advanced hybrid powertrain than the current 158kW/315Nm 2.0-litre petrol-electric drivetrain.
Honda’s fourth-generation two-motor e:HEV hybrid system is already in service in the Honda CR-V mid-size SUV and other models, but in this application the combined output for the 2.0-litre unit increases to 152kW (up from 135kW in CR-V).
Torque remains at 335Nm, with output sent to the front driven wheels via an e-CVT transmission.
Drivers will be able to tailor the drivetrain to the task at hand via four drive modes – Normal, Econ, Sport and Individual – and three powertrain settings – Auto, EV, Charge – while a new-generation six-mode regenerative braking system can be controlled via the paddle shifters.
An official fuel consumption figure is still to be confirmed.
As with any latest-generation model, Honda is spruiking the new Accord’s elevated tech prowess, pointing to the fitment of a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, 12.3-inch infotainment system with wireless phone projection, an 11.5-inch head-up display, Google Built-in, a 12-speaker Bose sound system, over-the-air updates, connected services and digital key compatibility.
Other standout features comprise an active grille, black 18-inch alloy wheels, full LED exterior lighting and an independent multi-link rear suspension set-up.
The latest Honda Sensing safety suite will also be included, bundling autonomous emergency braking (AEB), lane keeping, adaptive cruise control, traffic jam assist, blind spot monitoring, traffic sign recognition, driver attention and a surround-view camera.
“The Honda Accord has a rich history in the Australian market as a sophisticated, luxurious flagship model which has been a customer favourite since its arrival in 1977,” said Honda Australia director Carolyn McMahon.
“This new model offers the premium feel that Accord is renowned for, coupled with additional technological advancements, including the arrival of Google built-in and the next generation of Honda Connect.”
