All three Alpine A110 editions for Oz

First of three Alpine A110 models here from October; only one will cost less than $100K

All three editions of Renault’s born-again Alpine A110 coupe will be available in Australia, but only one will be priced under $100,000.

Based on Europe’s original Premiere Edition, the Alpine A110 Australian Premiere Edition will be the first to arrive here, in October, priced at $106,500 plus on-road costs.

The Premiere Edition will be limited to just 60 examples (about half of which are already sold) and fitted as standard with an individually numbered plaque.

The cars will feature Alpine Blue metallic paint, Alpine-blue Brembo brake callipers, 18-inch Fuchs forged wheels, an active sports exhaust and Alpine’s drive mode selector comprising Normal, Sport and Track setting.

Also standard are 13.1kg Sabelt one-piece bucket seats with leather and microfibre trim, rear parking sensors, aluminium pedals and footrest, Focal audio system, climate-control air-conditioning, satellite-navigation, and LED headlights and taillights.

Following the Premiere Edition in the first quarter of 2019 will be the Alpine A110 Pure and Legende Editions.

Opening the range at $97,000 plus ORCs, the driver-focussed Pure Edition is pricier than expected but still undercuts its most direct rival in the Porsche Cayman by more than $18,000.

However, the base Alpine A110 Pure misses out on the Brembo brakes, active exhaust, Focal sound, reversing camera, front parking sensors and Alpine floor mats, reducing its kerb weight to 1094kg.

However, A110 Pure buyers can option these features, along with front parking sensors and alternative 18-inch wheels.

The A110 Legende, priced at $103,500 plus ORCs, scores heated six-way adjustable comfort seats, full leather upholstery in black or brown and gloss-finished carbon-fibre interior trim.

Also standard is the Focal audio system, reversing camera, front/rear parking sensors, climate-control, sat-nav, LED lights and two-tone Legende wheels that pay homage to the original A110 Berlinette 1600S.

A110 Legende options include two alternative 18-inch wheel designs, a Focal Premium audio system with subwoofer and the active exhaust.

The Premiere Edition is available only in Alpine Blue paint, which is optional on both other models – as is Deep Black metallic, Thunder Grey metallic, Blue Abyss metallic and Iris White signature. Otherwise, the only standard solid colour is Glacier White.

As we’ve reported, the A110 will be available in Australia from just one dedicated Alpine dealership at launch, Brighton Alpine in Melbourne.

The announcement of a Sydney outlet is also expected soon.

Customers can reserve their Alpine A110 production slot either by contacting Brighton Alpine directly or Alpine Australia, tel (03) 8595 2922 or info@alpinecars.com.au.

At this stage all versions of the compact two-seat rear-drive French coupe are powered by a mid-mounted 185kW/320Nm 1.8-litre turbo-petrol four-cylinder engine, matched to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Based around a lightweight aluminium chassis developed by Renault Sport and featuring double-wishbone suspension all around, the A110 hits 100km/h in a claimed 4.5sec, a top speed of 250km/h and has front/rear weight distribution of 44/56 per cent.

ADR combined fuel consumption is just 6.0L/100km and the A110 engine meets the latest Euro 6 emission standard.

“With the all-new A110, Alpine have taken the core principles of agility, a light weight vehicle and a low centre of gravity, that made Alpine so successful in the 60s and 70s and reimagined them for a modern consumer.”
