The 2025 Cupra Terramar has been awarded a five-star safety rating by ANCAP while the latest Peugeot 3008 and 5008 have come up just short with four-star ratings.
Starting with the Terramar, the performance-focused medium SUV scored 89, 87 and 82 per cent for its adult occupant, child occupant and vulnerable road user protection respectively, and 78 per cent for its safety assists.
Testers praised its protection of the driver in the full-width and side impact tests as well as the protection it offered to child occupants in the frontal offset and side impact tests, however ‘marginal’ chest protection was observed for the rear adult passenger in the full-width frontal test.
As for the Pugs, they were tested and marked in tandem seeing as the 5008 is essentially a three-row 3008 and ultimately only fell short on their safety assists.
According to testers, the French duo scored 82 per cent for adult occupant protection, 87 per cent for child occupant protection, 79 per cent for vulnerable road user protection and a sub-par 65 per cent for safety assists; the main roadblock being lacking (for five stars) collision avoidance performance.
“Both the Peugeot 3008 and Peugeot 5008 provide a reasonable safety package,” ANCAP CEO Carla Hoorweg said.
“With some small enhancements to collision avoidance performance, five-star ratings are within reach.”
