Just days after its Geneva motor show unveiling, Aston Martin has confirmed that the Vanquish it will launch in 2022 will be joined by a hardcore track-focused Aston Martin Vanquish AMR Pro variant and a Volante roadster version soon after launch.
Created to rival cars like the forthcoming replacement for the current Ferrari 488 Pista and the McLaren 720S, Aston Martin chief Andy Palmer told Top Gear magazine that the mid-engine family of supercars will expand well beyond a coupe.
Palmer said both the new Aston Martin Vanquish AMR Pro and the Volante would help the sports car maker hit its projected production numbers of around 14,000 cars a year. The Aston boss predicted that would be split evenly between around 7000 sports cars and another 7000 DBX SUVs and the new pure-electric Lagonda models.
In the same interview, Palmer also went on to reveal that the Vanquish's styling cues would inspire the next DB11's replacement due around 2024.
"The Vanquish is an important part of what the DB12 looks like," admitted the British brand's CEO.
He also went onto to say both the Vanquish and DB12 will share much of the same platform even though one is mid-engine and the other mounts its motor up front.
