Aston Martin has officially unveiled the drop-top variant of the Vanquish Zagato – the swoopy coupe that's set to enter production, albeit on a very limited basis.
The Vanquish Zagato Volante ('Zagato' the famed Italian styling studio and 'Volante' a traditional name for Aston Martin convertibles) is on the company's stand at Pebble Beach, alongside the coupe that debuted at Italy's Villa D'Este Concours d'elegance.
Like the coupe, the Volante will be built – and production numbers for the Volante will be pegged at just 99 cars. The V12 engine will be common to both cars too, boasting 442kW for a 0-60MPH time of 3.7 seconds.
Materials used throughout the Volante's cabin consist of herringbone carbon fibre, anodised bronze trim and Bridge of Weir leather, the last fastened together with 'Z' quilt-pattern stitch on doors and seats. Zagato's 'Z' logo is embossed on the headrests and also features in the centre console.
"Just like the Coupe, we have emphasised the way surfaces change and intersect to create a muscular form. We've endeavoured to create an elegant, flowing shape that really works to emphasise the car's sculpted rear haunches" says Aston Martin EVP and Chief Creative Officer, Marek Reichman.
"The Vanquish Zagato Volante illustrates the ways in which Aston Martin design can evolve in collaboration with such a trusted and long-standing partner.
"Vanquish Zagato Volante continues Aston Martin's new century of innovation and creativity, strengthening the association between these great automotive marques in the process".
Aston Martin will commence deliveries to customers around the world in 2017.
