Aston Martin Vantage V12 Zagato Heritage Twins launched

Ultra-limited V12 speedster and coupe celebrate Aston's 60-year collaboration with Zagato

Aston Martin has released pictures and full details of two limited-edition versions of its original Vantage V12 Zagato, each commemorating six decades of collaboration between the British sports car brand and the famous Italian stylist.

Created as part of an ultra-limited run of just 19 pairs of cars, Aston Martin says each pair of coupe and speedster 'Heritage Twins' will cost £1.75 million ($A3.4m) and, in case you were asking, it will not sell either car separately.

As well as 60 years of Aston Martin Zagatos, the latest special Vantage V12s also mark Zagato's 100th anniversary.

Instead of being made at Aston's Gaydon plant, the full production run of coupes and speedsters has been handed to Swiss manufacturer R-Reforged, with the first Twins expected to roll off the firm's new UK plant towards the end of this year.

Looking almost identical to the original 2011 Vantage V12 Zagato, the updated coupe  features new 19-inch alloy wheels, a fresh interior and new exterior paint options.

The Speedster, meanwhile, is said to draw inspiration from the 2017 Vanquish Zagato.

According to Aston Martin, both cars are clothed in lightweight carbon-fibre skin includes the original Zagato's trademark bubble roof, while the speedster gains a pair of striking flying buttresses behind the seats.

A deeper front splitter, large rear diffuser and a pop-up boot lid spoiler all hint at what lies beneath both Aston's bonnet – the car-maker's naturally-aspirated 6.0-litre V12.

For 2020, a new inlet manifold, titanium exhaust, and new ECU has boosted power by 64kW to a very healthy 447kW.

Aston Martin says both models will top 320km/h and hit 100km/h in less than four seconds.

According to the British car-maker, more than half of all the Vantage V12 Zagato Heritage Twins have already been spoken for, with each pair's exterior paint and interior leather  tailored to the individual buyer's wishes.
