The next-generation Audi A3 Sportback is due to land here in May, but the importer has some stock of the previous model to clear before then.
As a consequence, all A3 Sportback and A3 Cabriolet models are being offered in the period up to the new model's launch with the Technik Package as standard and a $5000 'Audi Advantage' rebate.
Previously priced at $1950 as an option, the Technik Package for remaining stock comprises of Navigation system plus with MMI control logic, Audi Music Interface and Xenon Plus headlights with LED daytime running lights . The Technik Package is available across current-generation A3 Sportback in 1.4 TFSI and 1.8 TFSI variants, plus the A3 Cabriolet 1.8 TFSI. All three models come equipped from the factory with Audi's S tronic transmission.
The Audi Advantage rebate is worth $5000 to the new-car buyer and, combined with the inclusion of the Technik Package takes the total retail value adjustment up to $6950. Audi believes that managing the run out of the current A3 range this way will minimise any detriment to the car's resale values.
"When the A3 was first launched in 1996, it established the premium compact market and remained a best-seller for the Audi brand," Audi’s General Manager Marketing, Kevin Goult, was quoted saying in a press release.
"With the third generation soon to be launched, it’s important that we continue to offer a very high customer value with the existing model. It remains a well-performing model in the Audi range and we expect the runout to be highly successful thanks to the exceptional customer value that we are offering across the entire range,” Mr Goult said.
The A3 Sportback 1.4 with S tronic is normally priced at $41,200, but the $5000 rebate effectively reduces the cost to $36,200, but with more equipment. It's the same with the 1.8-litre model; a $45,600 manufacturer's list price drops back to a nett cost of $40,600 for the buyer. And the Cabriolet, which is listed at $52,150, would slide below the $50,000 mark, settling at $47,150.
Audi is promoting this offer while stocks last.
