Audi Australia will begin retailing its new Q2 SUV from February 24, rolling out a one-off Launch Edition model priced at $49,990.
Based on the entry-level Q2 1.4 TFSI, the Q2 Launch Edition will feature 19-inch alloy wheels and will be finished in Quantum Grey paint, with black and Manhattan Grey exterior accents.
The standard range kicks off with the standard 110kW 1.4 TFSI model fitted with S tronic (seven-speed dual-clutch) transmission for $41,100. Powering the base Q2 is a CoD ('Cylinder-on-Demand') four-cylinder engine that produces 110kW and 250Nm for an official fuel consumption figure of 5.3L/100km.
Audi is also offering buyers a 2.0 TDI quattro variant – with S tronic transmission as standard, and developing 110kW and 340Nm. Fuel consumption will be as low as 5.0L/100km in combined-cycle testing. The diesel will cost $6800 more than the petrol Q2, at $47,900.
Standard features for the Q2 will comprise Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), MMI Navigation, Bluetooth connectivity with smartphone interface, voice control and a reversing camera. Also on the standard equipment list are dual-zone climate control, leather-appointed seats, and auto-dimming interior mirror.
For the diesel Q2, the specification also runs to an electric tailgate, sport seats and Audi side assist. Over the standard petrol Q2 the Launch Edition adds S line exterior styling with black contrasting elements, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, and active lane and side assist.
In the latter half of this year, Audi Australia will introduce a 2.0 TFSI quattro – an all-wheel drive model like the diesel – with 140kW and 320Nm engine output.
The Q2 has been awarded a five-star safety rating by Euro NCAP. And luggage space is claimed to be 405 litres with the rear seats raised.
"The highly anticipated all-new Audi Q2 will establish itself as a unique offering in the premium compact SUV segment. It will open up the Audi brand to a new range of young and young-at-heart buyers," says Andrew Doyle, Audi Australia MD.
"This new model will exceed customer expectations of how an Audi should look, thanks to its progressive polygonal design language, and what it should offer, thanks to a suite of infotainment and connectivity technologies. We are very pleased to be launching this game-changing vehicle to Australia in such a competitive package."
