Audi has released limited-edition A4 and A5 models that are claimed to offer more than $9000 and $10,000 of extra value respectively.
Fitted with a host of additional equipment for about an extra $4500, the Sport Edition A4 sedan and A5 Sportback, Coupe and Cabriolet models are available with entry-level 1.8-litre turbo-petrol and 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engines.
Limited to 250 examples, the A4 Sport Edition is said to include more than $9000 of enhanced value, while Audi claims additional equipment for the three A5 Sport Edition models – just 150 of which are available – amounts to between $8000 and more than $10,000 of extra value.
Sport Edition pricing starts at $59,990 plus on-road costs for the entry-level A4 1.8 TFSI multitronic sedan (up from $55,500 plus ORCs) and extends to $85,840 plus ORCs for the A5 2.0 TDI multitronic cabriolet – up from $80,900.
Extra equipment for all Sport Line vehicles includes 19-inch five-segment-spoke alloy wheels, Sports suspension, Sports front seats, a flat-bottom steering wheel with paddles and MMI Navigation plus, including 20GB media storage, DVD player and two SDHC memory card slots.
Also fitted are xenon plus headlights and LED tail-lights (which are already standard on A5 models) and premium metallic or pearl effect paint (Lava Grey, Ice Silver, Phantom Black, Glacier White, Monsoon Grey or Moonlight Blue).
There are no changes to the A4 and A5’s entry-level 1.8 TFSI engine -- which produces 125kW/320Nm, sprints to 100km/h in 8.3 seconds and consumes a class-leading 5.8L/100km – or the 2.0 TDI oil-burner, which offers 130kW/380Nm, 7.9-second 0-100km/h acceleration and best-in-class 4.8L/100km fuel consumption.
Sport Edition features are in addition to standard A4/A5 equipment, which continues to include a leather-appointed interior, automatic headlights and wipers, a powered driver’s seat and rear parking sensors.
