BEIJING MOTOR SHOW: Peugeot launches 308 sedan

Small, longer wheelbase sedan made specifically for Chinese buyers

Peugeot has created a new sedan version of the 308 hatchback especially for the Chinese market.

Developed and manufactured with local car-maker Dongfeng, the sedan version of the 308 is said to have a slightly longer wheelbase than the hatch for the specific aim of increasing rear legroom.

Sharing the same EMP2 platform as the 308 hatch, the Chinese sedan is no cost-cutting exercise and should be as good to drive as its Euro sibling.

It’s not known what engines will be offered under the bonnet of the 308 sedan, but it’s thought there will be the choice of just two petrols with the option of a manual or six-speed automatic.

Unfortunately, there’s little likelihood of the small sedan emigrating Down Under, says insiders.
