Bentley owners could soon be rid of arguably one of motoring's most bothersome tasks: refuelling at the petrol station.
The luxury marque has announced details of a new concierge re-fuelling trial that will dispatch a fuel truck to Californian owners 24/7, and spare them from the mundane task of visiting the local servo – like everyday motorists.
By partnering with California-based start-up 'Filld', Bentley customers can ask the company to dispatch a fuel truck from a nearby location to re-fuel their car. While there, the mobile attendant will purportedly provide the same white glove service formerly fulfilled by fuel station attendants (remember those?), washing the windscreen, checking the oil level and tyre pressures.
The app enables the car to communicate with Filld stakeholders, to the point where the service person can track the location of the car and allow them to access the fuel tank. Bentley customers need only nominate a time for the refuelling to take place.
“Bentley ownership is about more than just the vehicle – it’s the entire luxury experience," explained Christophe Georges, Bentley's marketing director.
"We are continuously investigating ways in which to offer our customers tailored, convenient, smart services that afford them the greatest luxury of all: more time."
While Bentley says the concierge service is only a trial at present, don’t be surprised if the project gains traction with the rest of the US and then Europe.
