The Kia Sorento has today been crowned carsales’ Best Family SUV for 2023, making it three back-to-back victories in the award for the popular large seven-seat SUV.
The Kia Sorento topped a short-listed field of six highly-regarded family SUVs comprising the Hyundai Palisade, Hyundai Santa Fe, Kia Sorento, Nissan Pathfinder, Skoda Kodiaq and Toyota Kluger.
carsales’ Best Family SUV award recognises the best models in this category, targeting mainstream brands and assessing the most popular, best-equipped seven-seat all-wheel drive versions – all based on a road-friendly passenger car platform and a five-star safety rating.
Car-based three-row SUVs are one of the most popular vehicle types in Australia, where they’re well equipped to tackle a wide range of family transport duties from the daily school run to the big interstate annual holiday, and everything in between.
For Aussies looking to graduate to a large seven-seat wagon, each of these contenders deliver plenty of space, entertainment needs for the whole family and cutting-edge safety tech.
This year, the field was based on premium model grades priced up to $81,500 (before on-road costs) and including petrol, diesel and hybrid powertrains.
Each contender was assessed against carsales’ rigorous testing criteria across five key areas: safety, technology, comfort and convenience features, driving performance and ownership costs.
And once again the Kia Sorento GT-Line diesel ticked the most boxes, backing up its win in 2021 and the Sorento Hybrid’s victory in 2022.
