Bigger, sleeker new 2025 Kia K4 revealed

Kia Cerato successor unwrapped ahead of all-new small sedan’s Aussie arrival early next year

Kia Motors has fully revealed its 2025 Kia K4 sedan ahead of its official unveiling at the New York motor show next week, giving us our first undisguised look at the Cerato successor that’s due to launch in Australia early next year.

Already spotted carrying out local testing in Sydney earlier this month – in heavy camouflage – the Kia K4 will receive an Aussie-specific suspension tune to help give it the edge over its rivals.

Bigger than the current Cerato, the new Kia K4 adopts a striking new look that picks up where the larger Kia K5 (Optima) left off.

Gaining front and rear slimline L-shaped lamps and bold creases along the body to highlight its muscular front and rear wheel-arches, nobody will mistake the latest K4 for the related Hyundai i30 sedan.

Other design details worth drawing attention to include the more rakish rear styling that provides a four-door coupe silhouette.

Look closer and the rear doors look longer too, with hidden door handles lurking within the C-pillar.

No further information has been released on what powers the small sedan but the K4 is expected to mirror the i30 sedan’s powertrain offerings.

That said, it’s rumoured the 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder will be combined with an eight-speed automatic rather than the Hyundai’s seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Inside, Kia’s new small sedan gets a cabin unrecognisable from the current Cerato, headlined by Mercedes-Benz-like twin screens that stretch across the dash and look like they sit behind a single piece of glass.

Mercifully, for those tired of touch-screens replacing all physical switchgear, there’s a row of shortcut buttons beneath to operate the navigation, sound system and climate control.

The first photographs also reveal the K4 will offer heated and ventilated front seats, a head-up display and plenty of USB ports.

Expect further details of the Kia K4 to be released following its public debut at the New York motor show on March 27.
