BMW has announced the pricing of its third and final variant to the newly released 3 Series Touring range. The top-spec petrol variant, the 328i, joins the 318d and 320i to complete the local line-up, which goes on sale this week. Pricing for the 328i Touring starts at $69,900 with BMW’s ‘Line’ package options – Luxury, Modern and Sport – available for an additional $1538. The athletic M Sport Package attracts a further $5000. Thanks to its low fuel economy figure, the entire 3 Series Touring range escapes the clutches of Luxury Car Tax (LCT).
The 328i Touring is powered by a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol four-cylinder, the same unit found powering the 320i, but boosted to deliver 180kW/245Nm (the 320i manages 135kW/184Nm). That added horsepower sees the 328i Touring hit 100km/h in 6.0 seconds while still managing a combined cycle fuel consumption figure of just 6.5L/100km. CO2 emissions are rated at 152g/km. The 328i Touring for Australia will go into production from this month, for late May delivery, BMW has advised.
The 3 Series Touring range arrives as standard with BMW’s nifty 40:20:40 split-fold rear seat, a best-in-class 495 litres with a total cargo of 1500 litres possible with the seats flipped forward. Those are the major points setting the 3 Series Touring apart from the F30-series 3 Series sedan range.
