A new special-edition version of the BMW 330i is now available in Australia, bringing a host of extra equipment with pricing set at $81,900 drive-away.
The BMW 330i Iconic Edition sits $4000 upstream of the regular 330i, but with the on-road costs factored in – and if the claimed $10,000 in extra equipment is taken at face value – it represents a good deal over the stock-standard sedan which starts at $77,900 plus on-road costs.
With just 200 units allocated for Australia, BMW says it will offer 100 Iconic Edition cars in Mineral White, while the other 100 will be finished in Black Sapphire.
So where is that extra $10K found?
As well as the metallic paintwork thrown in, there’s a variety of added exterior features such as black double-spoke 19-inch M light alloy wheels, an M rear spoiler, carbon-fibre mirror caps, BMW door projectors, BMW Individual high-gloss ‘shadow line’ and a glass roof.
BMW’s Laserlight headlight system is also included, while the front kidney grille has been given a glow effect – a feature borrowed off the latest BMW X7 SUV.
Inside, the BMW 3 Series Iconic Edition has ambient lighting, front seat heating and M seat belts.
Standard gear fitted to every BMW 330i includes a black leather interior with front sports seats, a head-up display, wireless phone charging, digital radio and park assist.
There’s also plenty of other sporting elements such as M Sport brakes, an M aerodynamics package, adaptive M suspension and an M Sport package which brings other blacked-out exterior trim.
There are no mechanical changes, leaving in service the 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine (190kW/400Nm) mated to an eight-speed Steptronic automatic transmission.
The BMW 3 Series was named the 2019 carsales Car of the Year with final evaluation based on the BMW 330i M Sport sedan.
