BMW celebrates 7 Series with 40 Jahre Edition

Four decades of luxury celebrated with the ultra-exclusive 7 Series 40 Jahre

BMW's 7 Series has come to represent the pinnacle of luxury motoring since its debut in 1977. And with BMW well known for its celebration of anniversaries the arrival of the bling-laden 40 Jahre Edition is not unexpected.

The limited edition's significant specification upgrades – and price – are as worthy of celebration as the anniversary itself. Even if Australia will receive only four of the 200 units allocated globally.

Slated for arrival at the end of 2017, the allocation includes two 740i ($267,400), one 750i ($336,500) and a solitary M760Li xDrive ($443,500). All variants are finished in Frozen Silver metallic paintwork and roll on bi-colour 20-inch V-spoke light alloy wheels, sourced from the BMW Individual catalogue.

Comfort seats are fitted front and rear, and are trimmed in BMW Individual's signature full leather Merino upholstery. Available in Smoke White or Black, the seats are complemented by ‘7 40 Jahre' embroidery and an Alcantara headliner, also in Smoke White.

The 7 Series' anniversary status is further identified by Piano Black trim, again sourced from the BMW Individual collection, emblazoned with the ‘7 40 Jahre' signet, which is also repeated on the unique door sill finishers and the external B-pillar.

Of course a limited edition 7 Series wouldn't be special without additional equipment, and on that front the 40 Jahre delivers.

740i and 750i variants receive the M Sport package (M Performance already standard for M760Li xDrive variants), rear headrest cushions with ‘7 40 Jahre' logo stitching, Smoke White floor mats with contrasting black piping, M Sport brakes (again, already standard on M760Li xDrive), and a Bower & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound System (750i only).

"BMW Group Australia is extremely proud to be celebrating 40 years of our 7 Series flagship," said BMW Group Australia CEO, Marc Werner.

"The latest generation has been well-received by Australian media as well as consumers, its combination of innovative technologies, high specification levels and traditional BMW driving experience driving it to segment leadership in 2017.

"We cannot wait to see the 40 Jahre Edition in the metal towards the end of the year."

2017 BMW 7 Series 40 Jahre Edition pricing:
740i (240kW/450Nm) – $267,500 (plus ORCs)
750i (330kW/650Nm) – $336,500 (plus ORCs)
