BMW has released full details of the M Performance Parts it will offer for the all-new 2023 BMW M2.
Available as retro-fit options from launch in Europe via authorised dealers – but yet to be confirmed for Australia – BMW says its new M Performance Parts catalogue for the second-generation BMW M2 was created with “maximum performance in mind”
BMW M says all of its M Performance Parts have been produced with the same level of quality as the car itself and are homologated for street use.
Beginning with the exterior styling components, which are said to “optimise” the 338kW coupe’s standard aero package, the parts include a front splitter, air intake, side skirts, front and rear side spats, mirror caps, rear lip spoiler and rear diffuser – all made of carbon-fibre reinforced plastic.
Both the rear spoiler and roof-edge spoiler can also be ordered in high-gloss black.
Other new options include an M-branded tow strap and antenna cover that, again, are made of carbon-fibre.
Slashing weight, BMW M has also designed a fresh titanium sports exhaust for the M2 that's claimed to provide “racing-car acoustics” while shaving 8kg off the kerb weight.
Featuring electrically controlled flaps (that alter the exhaust volume and sound in different drive modes), the new sports exhaust gains an unusual central quartet of pipes and comes with a heavily modified rear carbon-fibre diffuser.
For those that will use their BMW M2 on track, or want to hone its handling on road, there's a coil-over suspension option which lowers the ride height by up to 10mm.
Forged aluminium wheels join the list of options – 20-inch at the front and 21-inch at the rear – and can be ordered in either Frozen Gold Bronze or with an M Jet Black matte finish.
Inside, there's the option of Alcantara knee pads, carbon-fibre and Alcantara backrests for M Sport seats, and an Alcantara-wrapped M Performance steering wheel.
Other less exciting additions include M Performance floor mats, a special fuel filler cap and M Performance door pins.
No pricing or market-specific availability details have yet been announced, but the new BMW M2 goes on sale in Australia in early 2023.
