BMW has released another short video tease of its new junior M coupe.
The six-second clip, recorded in the US, shows the new 272kW/500Nm M2 coupe indulge in a smoking, high-speed drift on a race circuit.
The small BMW M car is one of this year’s most anticipated sports cars but, so far, no-one outside of BMW has driven it.
Powered by a 2799cc in-line six that uses a twin-scroll turbocharger, BMW has already announced it can reach 100km/h in just 4.3 seconds and top out at a limited 250km/h or 270km/h, with the optional M Driver’s Package fitted.
Two transmissions will be offered, a dual-clutch DCT automatic and a six-speed manual that is two-tenths of a second slower to the 100km/h dash.
When the M2 arrives here in Australia in the second quarter of 2016 it’s expected to be one of most affordable M cars yet – at around $100,000 – and potentially one of the most popular.
