BMW X1 and X2 Sport pricing and specs

BMW’s small SUVs receive Sport makeover with more standard gear and drive-away pricing

The BMW X1 and X2 small SUV line-ups will expand in Australia soon with the addition of sDrive18i Sport and sDrive20i Sport variants offering sporty touches and extra standard equipment.

Priced from $55,900 drive-away, the 2022 BMW X1 sDrive18i Sport will be limited to just 100 units when it arrives here next month armed to the teeth with extra standard gear compared to the standard X1 sDrive18i (from $47,900 plus on-road costs).

Riding on the usual 18-inch alloy wheels and donning either ‘Black Sapphire’ or ‘Mineral White’ metallic paint, the Sport’s extra standard equipment is headlined by gloss black interior trim, a head-up display, satellite navigation, a 10.25-inch infotainment screen, automatic tailgate, comfort access, power-adjustable heated front seats with lumbar support, anti-dazzle driver’s side wing mirror and automatic climate control.

For an extra four grand, the X2 sDrive18i Sport – priced from $59,900 drive-away and not due to arrive until the third quarter – ups the ante with the M Sport Package, exclusive 19-inch alloys, ‘M aluminium hexagon anthracite’ interior trim and a panoramic glass sunroof.

The only colour available on this variant is Black Sapphire.

The regular X2 sDrive18i is priced from $49,900 plus ORCs.

As per the standard sDrive18i models, a 103kW/220Nm 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine drives the front wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Priced from $67,900 drive-away and also due to arrive next month, the 2022 BMW X1 sDrive20i Sport comes as standard with the M Sport Package and rides on 19-inch alloy wheels (different design) while the interior features blue and black Dakota leather upholstery, offset by the contrasting black and ‘pearl chrome’ trim.

Drive in this instance is provided by a bigger 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo engine churning out a more athletic 141kW/280Nm and paired with an eight-speed automatic.

The non-Sport X1 sDrive20i is priced at $56,900 plus ORCs.

The 2022 BMW X1 and X2 Sport models follow similar Sport Collection treatments applied to the BMW 1, 2 and 3 Series earlier this year.
