BMW Australia has announced sharper pricing for some variants of its two smallest SUVs – the BMW X1 and BMW X2 -- plus improved equipment levels across both model lines.
Models arriving in Australian showrooms from January 2019 will come with Apple CarPlay as standard, along with head-up display systems that project road speed and navigation instructions onto the windscreen.
The Navigation System Plus on the BMW X1 and X2 comprises the head-up display and, on X1, models an 8.8-inch infotainment screen with sat-nav and an 'app-style interface' controlled via touch, voice or the iDrive rotary dial.
Entry-level BMW X2 models will soldier on with a smaller 6.5-inch touch-screen display.
Pricing remains unchanged for two of the four X1 models, with price drops of $3700 and $600 for the BMW X1 sDrive20i and X1 xDrive25i respectively. See the full pricing breakdown below.
Meanwhile, the entry-level BMW X2 sDrive 18i now comes with larger 19-inch alloy wheels while dropping in price by $3000.
Like all BMW vehicles, a three-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty is offered and the German car-maker also offers Condition Based Servicing (CBS) that monitors the car to determine “whether an annual vehicle inspection or oil service is due”.
BMW also accepts one-off payments for a five-year/80,000km service package, priced at $1395 for the basic plan and $4150 for the plus plan.
BMW Australia's sales are down by almost under four per cent so far this year, at 18,211 sales, with every model except the 1 Series, 3 Series, X3 and 6 Series GT slumping.
The BMW X3 has been a standout performer for the Bavarian luxury brand, with sales rising by more than 50 per cent from 2621 in 2017 to 3991 sales thus far in 2018, eclipsing the 3 Series and BMW's top-selling model.
BMW Group Australia CEO, Vikram Pawah, said the added value and price drops for its entry-level SUVs comes because "BMW recognises these segments as key in the Australian market."
Pawah added that "It is also an area that is constantly evolving in terms of technology, specification and customer preference."
