Brisbane launch for new BMWs
The 135i and X5 3.0sd are just two new models from BMW to make their Australian debut in BrisbaneTwo new BMW models will be seen by the Australian public for the first time at the Brisbane Motor Show early next month.
The 135i coupe and the X5 3.0sd are both fitted with twin-turbo six-cylinder engines, but the 1 Series variant is a petrol engine -- shared with the 335i -- and the SUV's engine is a turbodiesel.
In the case of the 135i, the engine develops 225kW of power and 400Nm of torque to propel the coupe to 100km/h in 5.3 seconds.
The X5 3.0sd is a new variant in the X5 range -- rather than a replacement for the X5 3.0d -- which places the emphasis on sporting performance more so than offroad work. Producing 200kW of power and 565Nm of torque, the new X5's engine is the most powerful diesel BMW has ever offered in Australia. Despite a top speed of 230km/h and an acceleration time of 7.2 seconds to 100km/h, the X5 3.0sd uses 8.8L/100km of fuel in combined cycle testing.
Equipment for the X5 3.0sd is the same as the X5 3.0d Executive's and can be enhanced by specifying an optional Sport Package.
Along with these two new models, BMW will also introduce the M3 Coupe, revised 6 Series range, the 520d and the X3 2.0d to the Brisbane public.
The Motor Show runs from February 1 to 10.
