C5, Nemo Combi and C8 debut in Brussels

The North American International Auto Show is winding up, but there's no let-up, with the Brussels International Motor Show opening its doors from January 16 to 27.

Citroen is among the European marques making up for lost time by not being in Detroit. The French company will be making a big fuss over the new C5, the Nemo and the C8 people mover.

Both the C5 and the Nemo will be coming to Australia (more here), but the C8, which is larger than the C4 Picasso, has not been announced for our market, although Aussie tourists to Europe can opt to lease one through the Citroen DriveEurope tourist lease program.

Local Citroen distributor, Ateco Automotive, has scheduled the new C5 (more here) to launch in Australia around the middle of this year and the Nemo light van to follow during the third quarter.

Citroen will also display the Nemo Concetto that was developed originally for the Bologna Motor Show (more here) and the star of the Frankfurt Motor Show, the C-Cactus (more here). 

The Nemo has been developed to slot in below the Berlingo and offers an alternative in the light van market to those who want a vehicle that is more manoeuvrable still than the Berlingo, Renault Kangoo or Holden Combo.

Total length of the Nemo comes in under four metres (3.96) and the light van will turn within a 10-metre diameter, between kerbs.

Citroen will also have a mini-people mover variant of the Nemo -- named the Nemo Combi -- on display in Brussels.

Fitted with a turbodiesel engine, the Nemo Combi HDi returns a combined cycle fuel consumption figure as low as 4.6L/100km and emits just 123g/km of CO2.

Bolstering the company's environmental credentials, Citroen will also have the C4 Hybrid HDi on display at the show (more here). Among the first of new generation hybrids with a turbodiesel engine, the C4 Hybrid HDi uses just 3.4L/100km and produces 90g/km of CO2.
