Using the carsales network editorial team, motoring.com.au's, Recommended Cars as the finalists, carsales People's Choice Awards give our audience the chance to choose the most popular vehicles across 13 key categories.
The cars have been carefully chosen by our team of full time automotive journalists and key contributors.
The motoring.com.au crew drives literally hundreds of new cars each year and it has chosen what we believe are the best of the new car crop. In many cases the choices are based on multiple drives of multiple variants of each car in each category. motoring.com.au also had the opportunity, in a number of categories, to drive the best cars back to back.
And unlike some other ‘recommendations’, carmakers’ marketing and advertising departments are NOT involved in the process of selection – meaning vested interests hold no sway and the public can vote with confidence.
The 13 award categories for carsales People's Choice essentially correspond with search options across carsales network websites including www.carsales.com.au, CarPoint.com.au, Redbook.com.au and motoring.com.au. They are defined by Redbook data including such factors as RRP, size, passenger capacity and other category specific factors.

Over the next two weeks carsales network visitors will have the chance to vote in one or all of the categories. Voting is free, you can vote in as many categories as you like and just by voting, you have the chance of winning $5000 cash.
Voting is now open and runs for two weeks. Remember you can vote once or vote often. We will then announce the winners of each category on November 19.
At that time we'll also announce the overall carsales People Choice Award winner – the car that receives the most votes overall. All visitors who vote going into the draw to win the cash.
