Jaecoo Australia has bolstered its growing J7 SHS portfolio with the addition of a new entry-level ‘Track’ variant, and to clarify, it’s not designed for track usage in any way, shape, or form.
Slotting into the range some $4000 below the existing J7 SHS Summit, the Track is far from what you’d call sparse, with equipment highlights including acoustic glass windscreen, 19-inch alloys, LED head and taillights, heated and cooled synthetic leather seats, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, 13.2-inch infotainment system, smartphone mirroring, sat-nav, a six-speaker sound system, and a 360-degree camera.
Under the bonnet is the Chery Group’s turbocharged 1.5-litre petrol-electric ‘super’ hybrid system that outputs 255kW and offers up to a 1200km combined fuel range.
Despite the powertrain’s impressive power figure and the obvious connotations of its nameplate, the J7 SHS Track is by no means a performance vehicle or intended for use on a track – as per the lesser petrol version.

The first examples will be in local showrooms by the end of the month and covered by Jaecoo’s eight-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty, plus eight years of capped price serving and roadside assistance.
