BMW has announced a new entry-level addition to its SUV range. The new front-wheel drive X1 sDrive18i will go on sale in February, priced from $45,900 plus government charges.
The compact SUV features BMW/MINI’s well credentialed 1.5-litre three-cylinder engine matched to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Outputs are rated at 100kW and 220Nm and combined fuel consumption for the newest X1 variant is tagged at 5.4L/100km.
Inside, the latest X1 gets BMW’s latest iDrive6 infotainment interface. Other standard equipment items include: cruise control, parking assistant and front and rear sensors, power tailgate and 18-inch alloys.
The X1 sDrive18i also features BMW Driving Assistant which packages speed limit info, lane departure and forward collision warnings, but no autonomous emergency braking.
BMW Australia will offer xLine styling fitted as standard. An M Sport package is optional. Other option packs include: Convenience Package ($1500); Innovations Package ($2600); and Comfort Package ($2700). The inclusions are listed below.
In 2018, BMW will add an X1-based SUV coupe to its line-up. No prizes for guessing the new vehicle will be called the X2.
