Cheaper GWM Haval Jolion Hybrid coming soon

Growing Chinese brand announces a more affordable hybrid version of its small SUV

GWM-Haval Australia has added another hybrid option to its ranks, in the form of the new entry-level 2023 Haval Jolion Lux Hybrid that undercuts the existing Ultra Hybrid ($40,990 drive-away) by $4000.

Priced from $36,990 drive-away, the Lux Hybrid comes with the same 1.5-litre turbo-petrol four-cylinder hybrid powertrain as the flagship Jolion hybrid, developing a meaty 139kW/375Nm and consuming 5.0L/100km on the combined cycle.

It’s worth noting the flagship Lux Hybrid currently has a $1000-lower promotional price of $39,990 drive-away, so at the moment both Jolion Hybrids carry a $6000 price premium over their equivalent petrol-only variants.

GWM-Haval’s front-drive small SUV model line – which competes with the top-selling MG ZS, Hyundai Kona, Mazda CX-30 and Toyota CH-R – continues to open at $28,490 drive-away for the Jolion Premium, but there’s so far no sign of a hybrid version of the base variant.

Standard equipment for the new 2023 Haval Jolion Lux Hybrid mirrors that of the non-hybrid Lux grade, with highlights including Comfort-tek upholstery, a 10.25-inch infotainment system with smartphone mirroring, 360-degree camera, adaptive cruise control, heated front seats with power adjustment for the driver, dual-zone climate control and LED exterior lighting.

And the Jolion Lux Hybrid features all the same bespoke exterior goodies – bespoke grille, bumpers, 18-inch alloys and blue-tinged exterior trim – as the pricier Ultra grades.

The same exterior paint colour palette is available too, with customers having the option of six different options: Hamilton White, Golden Black, Glacier Blue, Smoke Grey, Azure Blue and Mars Red.

Vehicles will start making their way into local showrooms in the coming weeks and all GWM-Haval products are backed by a seven-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty.

The Jolion Lux Hybrid is the Chinese brand’s fourth ‘new energy vehicle’ to come to Australia after the Jolion Ultra Hybrid, the bigger H6 Hybrid mid-size SUV and the Tank 300 Hybrid.

How much does the 2023 GWM-Haval Jolion cost?
