
Chery Australia has expanded its C5 range with the addition of a new hybrid powertrain that’s available in two guises – Urban and Ultimate – with prices starting from $31,990 drive-away.

The C5 Hybrid arrives this month, retaining much of the same styling and equipment as its petrol sibling, save for unique 17- and 18-inch alloys.
Standard equipment across both the Urban ($31,990 d/a) and Ultimate ($34,990 d/a) includes dual 12.3-inch displays, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, leather-appointed upholstery, heated front seats and voice assistant.
The Ultimate adds a Sony eight-speaker audio system, ambient interior lighting, a 50W wireless charger, ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, panoramic sunroof, powered tailgate, tinted windows and a 360-degree camera.


Power comes from plugless hybrid system combining a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine with an electric motor, combing to produce 165kW/295Nm.
It drives the front wheels via a dedicated single-speed transmission and Chery claims a combined fuel consumption of 4.9L/100km.
Safety equipment includes seven airbags, adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, lane assist with departure prevention across the range, while the Ultimate also gains a 360-degree camera.
The Chery C5 Hybrid is due in local showrooms this month and comes backed by Chery’s a seven-year/unlimited-kilometre vehicle warranty, and an eight-year/ unlimited-kilometre battery warranty.
